On March 11, Vietnam Report JSC (Vietnam Report) and VietNamNet newspaper announced the Ranking Table of Fast500 of 2012 – Top 500 fastest growing enterprises of Vietnam.

The top 3 enterprises in the Ranking Table of Fast500 – Top 500 fastest growing enterprises of Vietnam were Hoa Phat Energy JSC, Intimex Nha Trang Import – Export Coffee Joint Stock Company (Intimex Nha Trang JSC) a subsidiary of Intimex Group Joint Stock Company) and Thanh Thanh Dat Co., Ltd.

The Ranking Table Fast500 is to find and honor the most effective and fastest growing enterprises, based on the principles of science, independence and compliant with international standard (also referring to the rating model of Inc500, Fortune500 and Deloitte500). It’s the third consecutive year Vietnam Report researched and announced the Ranking Table of Fast500 in Vietnam.

In addition, organizing committee also announced the Ranking Table of Fast500 – Top 500 fastest growing SME of Vietnam. In this Table, Pisico Quang Nam Forestry Products JSC ranked first, followed by SJC Can Tho Jewelry JSC and Phu Nam Spinning JSC.

According to the report, 5 years after joining WTO, based on the survey data of Fast500, there have been around 2,700 Vietnam enterprises owning more than 30 labors successful in doubling  business scale (in revenue term). However, out of those fast growing enterprises, there have been only around 700 enterprises having added benefits equivalent in the same period.

Therefore, in the process after Vietnam joining WTO, Vietnam enterprise force has grown relatively strongly in scale, but the business effectiveness has not grown equivalently.

Notably, the enterprises in top 10 fastest growing group spread widely in many cities and provinces of the country such as Hanoi, Hochiminh City, Nghe An, Hai Duong, Quang Nam, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa and Can Tho.

Enterprises in those provinces grew averagely by more than 80% in 4 year from 2008-1011, while the enterprises in Hanoi and Hochiminh City only grew by around 60% in the same period. Thus, the fastest growing enterprises in Fast500, the future expectations of Vietnam’s economy are not overly concentrated in Hanoi and Hochiminh City.

In the framework of the research activities for the Ranking Table of Fast500, Vietnam Report had done a survey in large business community. Research result surprisingly showed that the number of optimistic enterprises had exceeded the pessimistic for the first time since the beginning of 2011.

More than 62% of surveyed enterprises hoped that their revenue would increase in 2013 in comparison with 2012, while only less than 15% worried that the revenue would decrease in 2013.

The formal announcement of Fast500 will be held on April 9 in the Hanoi Opera House, with the appearance of Professor Michael Dukakis, former Governor of Massachusetts state, along with U.S. investors.
